Product Photography: Final Product Shots

Before taking the product shot of the watch, I had to research how to take a product shot for a watch. I also had to figure out how to take the shot as I have no studio lights or any lamps I could use. I do have a camera that takes shots well in high iso so I can use it to my advantage.

I wanted to position the watch on a notepad and have a black background because it would add to the timeless and luxury direction I wanted. I also wanted to experiment with the light positioning as well but I know it would be difficult as I don't have any lights. However, I have a black desk so I decided to use that as my background.

I have everything set up expect for the lighting. I researched some more to figure how I can get creative but I decided to use my phone flashlight as this was my only option. I would hold my phone in one hand while holding my camera in the other.

While taking the shots, I found it difficult to get a close up on the watch because it wouldn't focus. There wasn't much light so I moved the camera back and the picture above was the photo I decided to work with. I liked how it turned out but I had to edit this to make it more professional and adjust the settings.

I moved the photo into Photoshop and adjusted the settings such as the brightness and tried to remove as much noise as possible. I then removed some marks on the journal and darkened the shadow of it as well. I added some lights in the top left to improve the brightness and some shadows in the corners. Below are the final photos that I created with the original. I really like how they turned out and I think I was successful in creating a timeless look with the photo.
